The enemy within…

Bounty-hunter Aris Boch once more has his sights on SG-1. But this time Boch isn’t interested in trading them for cash. He needs the unique talents of Dr. Daniel Jackson – and he’ll do anything to get them.

Colonel Jack O’Neill and his team are taken to Boch’s ravaged home-world and handed over to the insane Goa’uld, Sebek. Obsessed with opening a mysterious subterranean vault, Sebek demands that Jackson translate the arcane writing on the doors. When Jackson refuses, the Goa’uld resorts to devastating measures to ensure his cooperation.

With the vault exerting an increasingly malign influence, Sebek compels Jackson and O’Neill toward a horror that threatens both their sanity and their lives. Meanwhile, Carter and Teal’c struggle to persuade the starving people of Aris Boch’s world to risk everything they have to save SG-1 – and free their desolate world of the Goa’uld forever.

SIREN SONG

Sebek moved toward Daniel with his easy predatory grace and stepped into his space, as if Daniel was a thing he owned. He was too close. If they made their move, and Daniel wasn’t quick enough…Daniel was standing as straight and stiff as he could, trying to match Sebek’s height; for a moment, neither moved.

Teal’c’s grip on Jack’s arm tightened before his hand dropped away. As soon as the opportunity came, they were going to take it.

“Your threats are meaningless,” Sebek said, and waved at the Jaffa, who leveled their weapons at SG-1. “If your friends mean anything to you, your choice is simple.”

Daniel didn’t look at any of them. His chin came up, and he pointed to the Ancient inscription. “Do you see this? Do you have the slightest understanding of what it means? It’s a warning. It means whatever’s in there is dangerous. A warning from the Ancients is incredibly rare.” He leaned forward, nostrils flaring, gaze still locked with Sebek’s, and said, “Only a very, very foolish person would ignore it. Whatever’s in there is causing…this.” Daniel swept one hand around in a circle, indicating all of them. “None of us are immune to its power.”

Sebek threw back his head and laughed with typical Goa’uld condescension. “Why should a warning from a long-dead race mean anything to us?” he said. He gripped Daniel by the neck, long fingers sliding around his throat like steel talons. “It is that power we must harness. So now you will choose, or we will choose for you.”

Good premise but slows down in the middle toward end. All those hallways and alleys made it seem unnecessarily long in narration even though I usually enjoy narration, good pov narration. I skipped and skimmed a lot of Carter and Teal'c's adventures thru the alleyways. But a good emotional windup at the end that made my own throat ache lol.

STARGATE SG1 Siren Song eBook Holly Scott Jaimie Duncan Reviews

This book took me through the gate with our beloved team SG1 and through every word I saw, felt, believed was happening! Well written! This should have been made into one their episodes! It's that good!
Felt too out of character for my liking.
You know those books that, with an economy of words, the authors paint moving pictures in your mind and they just fly along? This is not one of those. Action scenes that should take moments drag on for pages filled with detailed character insights. I found myself skimming over paragraphs and not missing a thing. This is a shame, the plot is very original. If about a hundred pages were trimmed off, it would be a good read.
I enjoyed the story very much , the only thing that i didn't like was the pace, the descriptive passages I found to drag out and this slowed it down. that been said it was worth a read it involved all the main characters, and the twists and turns were good, it is a classic tale of good verses evil.

Give it a go
Great story. Fast paced SG1 action
There were no surprises or twists here, but it was an enjoyable read anyway. Formulaic in the way of the show, so that's not a bad thing.
It is a great story. I really enjoyed ow Daniel was able to take control of his mind and body from Seven. Also how Carter and Teal'c would not give up until they rescued Jack and Daniel.
